According to some of the 'treatments' discussed above, a major method of treatment for Rizwan was education/behavioral treatment. Rizwan constantly refers to what his mother taught him, as his mother taught him proper moral, ethics and general education. His mother knew how to approach her autistic child, and thus Rizwan was able to grow well as an autistic individual. So bottom line, it was really the nurturing of the mother that allowed Rizwan to grow in unprecedented ways.
Why did I Choose "My Name is Khan," and what did I learn from it?
I chose to watch "My Name Is Khan" at first because I just heard that it was a good movie. But as I finished the movie, I realized that I learned much more than I had expected. The movie delivers a message about the American/global stereotype on Muslims and the Islamic religion. It showed me the effects of 9/11 on Muslims, and their suffering due to the disaster. The movie also portrayed how autistic people deal with the disorder. Just because a person suffers from autism does not mean that the person is any worse or "lower" than those who are "normal." Autistic people are normal in their own sense, and can excel in areas that normal people cannot excel in.
